How fast do the blades turn?

The blades rotate at anything between 15-50 revolutions per minute at constant speed. However, an increasing number of machines operate at variable speed. For example the bigger turbines of the Te Apiti wind farm have a rotor speed of 20 rpm while in contrast smaller turbines such as the 225kW wind turbine in Brooklyn (Wellington) turn at a much faster rate of up to 40-45 rpm.
